How to: Add comments without changing document content.
Solution:
Protect the document for annotations, and allow users to add comments to the protected document.
1) Protect the document:
a) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Protect Document...'. (The Protect Document dialog box appears.)
b) Click 'Annotations'.
Click Annotations button
c) Type a password in the 'Password' box.
d) Click 'OK'.
e) Type the same password again when prompted.
f) Click 'OK'.
2) Pass the document on to the reviewer, who may add annotations to the protected document:
a) Position the insertion point where the annotation is to be inserted.
b) Select the 'Insert' menu and select 'Annotation'. (The annotation window appears.)

NOTE: The annotation mark shows the initials of the annotation author and a number.
c) Type the annotation text.
d) Click 'Close' to close the annotation window.
3) Repeat steps 2)b) and 2)c) to add additional annotations.
4) Review the annotations in the document:
a) Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Unprotect Document...'. (The Unprotect Document dialog box appears.)
b) Type the password.
c) Select the 'View' menu and select 'Annotations', to display the annotation window.
